Do you
like to dream and, may be, transform
them in reality ?
Who is
interested in my “ADI” can find here some
information. You can contact me for advices, designs
and photos.
I hope that some details can lead to new realizations.
This strange recumbent is born to be faster than ADY, now of ADY-2, and in
“ ADI (Here I am)
“ you can find the reason for this choice.
In “ ADY Realization
(text)
“
I give to home builders some informations that I won't repeat here.
I am not responsible for problems deriving by realizations built
folowing my drawings.
Because I am not able
to build light, both by my mental logic and by the fact that I use
brazed iron, speed had to be find somewhere else.
The drive wheel had to be big enough, than the choice was a 26" , and
with a short chain to have a minimal power loss. The
only solution was a delta with the drive wheel in front.
The configuration had to be a
“Low racer” and compact. Because I have a
single usable hand to drive, I can't use the steering method of
“ Python,
Flevo and Speculoos
“ that change the inclination of the front wheel
but were the direction is affected by legs alternate
force on the
pedals.
The only solution was a rear steering and a 20" wheels keeps
dimensions small.
Because I am 170 cm tall a 26" wheel make impossible to put
the bottom bracket in a usable position. “ Vacuum
Velocipede “ had he solution in its original
realization, linear cranks.
I used pedals as in the little boy cars, with a high hinge
oscillating lever and links to cranks. In this way I can have
pedals in a low position and at the correct distance for my
short
legs.
Obviously I had a lot of concern about this way of moving feet till I
tested really in the street.
Also about the rear steering I was full of doubt and I had to rebuild
three times the rear part to have a correct one.
To
increase stability because the
"trail" must be kept small to avoid oversteering and this cause an
excessive sensibility arround central position (driving stright), the
solution is a cam that force strigth direction but allows
steering . See ADI (steering)
.
With the 26"
wheels was possible to use standard derailer and
components. Gears are 30-42-52 e 11/34 ( 9 ).
The use of fast tires, forward Hutchinson Top Slick, rear Schwalbe
Marathon Racer, and of: derailers Shimano Ultegra FD-6503 / Deore
RD-M772
, disk brake
Shimano
M465 and speed trigger shifter ST-M960 , has
completed the project.
